In addition, regular consumption of even small amounts increases the personal risk of cancer, reports the German Cancer Aid in a recent announcement on the occasion of the alcohol week, which takes place every two years under the leadership of the German Center for Addiction Issues (DHS).

According to the DHS, statistically speaking, "a person dies in Germany every seven minutes because the alcohol has damaged the liver and pancreas, pharynx, stomach and intestine or the cardiovascular system".

Link between alcohol consumption and cancer

Everyone can lower their personal cancer risk
The individual cancer risk can be significantly reduced. When it comes to cancer prevention measures, in addition to giving up smoking, reducing alcohol consumption is also mentioned.

The managing director of DHS, Dr. Raphael Gassmann, on the occasion of the alcohol campaign week, recommends observing the rules for dealing with alcohol: "Healthy men should not drink more than a quarter liter of wine or 0.6 liters of beer a day, healthy women should not exceed half of them," said the expert .

“In addition, at least two non-alcoholic days per week should be taken. However, it is difficult to set a limit because there is no risk-free consumption of alcohol. Risks that could promote an alcohol-related illness should also be avoided. This particularly includes tobacco smoking. "
