However, if the strain persists, the risk of mental and physical illness increases. These include depression, anxiety disorders, tinnitus, high blood pressure or infectious diseases, the DGPPN informs.

“Everyone is productive, beautiful and young and wants to stay that way for as long as possible. This has consequences in people's behavior, ”Iris Hauth, president of the DGPPN, told the news agency“ dpa ”. "I would not say that lifestyle causes illness. But lifestyle causes changes in behavior and emotional changes, which may become risk factors for a disease, ”the expert continues.

One in four is constantly too stressed
The high number of people affected is particularly worrying: According to the DGPPN, more than half of adults feel stressed, and one in four is even exposed to constant stress.
